A traditional Greek favourite, Halva is a semolina based cake that can be made in four easy steps. It’s simple!
1 cup olive oil
½ cup chopped almonds
2 cups semolina
2 ½ cups sugar
½ cup honey
5 cups water
- Combine sugar, honey and water over heat. Bring to the boil and simmer for about 10 minutes until it becomes a light syrup.
- Once syrup has cooled, place oil in saucepan and heat until very hot.
Add semolina & almonds and stir through until semolina is golden brown and the almonds are slightly roasted.
- Take off heat and pour in the syrup. Thoroughly stir through until thick, and pour into a jelly mould.
- Leave in mould until cool and set, then sprinkle with cinnamon.
Sit down, relax & enjoy!
